Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Sales Director Honored as Industry Rising Star by Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association
Marietta, Ga. (May 3, 2007) — Melissa Barlow, a regional sales director for Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc., was honored as an industry Rising Star by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) at its 2007 Woman of the Year luncheon on Thursday, May 3 in New York. HBA Rising Stars are rising professionals in various sectors of the healthcare industry, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, advertising, public relations, medical education and market research, among other fields. Nominated by HBA’s corporate members, the Rising Stars represent various career stages and disciplines, and have demonstrated noteworthy achievements and proven attention to furthering their careers. Barlow is currently a neuroscience sales director responsible for the Western regional sales team at Solvay Pharmaceuticals. In this role, she helps develop and manage the marketing strategy and tactics for her team of six district managers and 59 sales representatives. She was previously a sales director for the company’s Specialized Markets team. Over the course of her 20-year career with Solvay Pharmaceuticals, she has served as a sales representative, hospital specialist, Regional Account Manager, and District Manager.
Outside of work, Barlow referees collegiate-level women’s basketball, including the Women’s Final Four Championship games. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Pomona College in Claremont, Calif.
