Earl E. Sands, M.D., FACOG, Named Vice President of Research and Development for Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

 

Marietta, Ga. (March 1, 2007) – Earl E. Sands, M.D., FACOG, has been named vice president of research and development (R&D) for Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. In this role, Sands will oversee all U.S.-based compound research and drug development in the company's therapeutic areas of cardio-metabolic, neuroscience, influenza vaccines, gastroenterology, and men’s and women's health. He will serve as a member of Solvay Pharmaceuticals’ Global R&D Steering Committee and the U.S. Pharmaceutical Leadership Team.

Sands, who joined the company in 2003, previously served as director of women's health, clinical development and medical affairs, where he supervised the safety monitoring, conduct, reporting and publication of the company’s women’s health clinical projects.

 

Prior to joining Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Sands was the regional medical director, Mid-Atlantic, for Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals in Pottstown, Pa., and the medical director/director of education at Innovations in Medical Education and Training in Cherry Hill, N.J.          

 

Sands graduated with a bachelor’s degree in premedical sciences from Lehigh University in  Bethlehem, Pa., earned a medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pa., and performed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology from St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J.
