Solvay Pharmaceuticals Assistant Director of Medical Communications Honored as Industry “Rising Star” by Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association
Marietta, Ga. (July 22, 2004) – Andrea Youngstrom, assistant director of medical communications for Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc., was honored on Friday, May 14 at the 15th annual Woman of the Year luncheon, sponsored by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA). HBA Rising Stars are rising professionals in various sectors of the healthcare industry, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, advertising, public relations, medical education and market research, among other fields. Nominated by HBA’s corporate members, the Rising Stars represent various career stages and disciplines, and have demonstrated noteworthy achievements and proven attention to furthering their careers.
Youngstrom currently serves as assistant director of medical communications for Solvay Pharmaceuticals. In this role, she is responsible for management of the medical information and publications functions for the company, and is the corporate administrator of the Solvay Pharmaceutical's Patient Assistance Program. Youngstrom has also served as the manager of medical relations, a medical liaison for the company’s mental health franchise and as a sales representative. Prior to joining Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Youngstrom worked as a laboratory manager and animal research surgeon at the Cardiac Neophysiology Laboratory at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and a research assistant for the Atlanta Allergy & Immunology Research Clinic in Atlanta.
Youngstrom earned her associate’s degree in 1987 from Oxford College of Emory University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Emory University in 1991. In 1996, she earned a Master of Science degree from Emory University in Neurobiology and Behavior.
