Heinz Behrens Named Vice President, Manufacturing and Operations for Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
MARIETTA, Ga. (Oct. 30, 2002) - Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. names Heinz Behrens, Ph.D., as its new vice president of manufacturing and operations. In his new role, Dr. Behrens oversees all aspects of product manufacturing and distribution, site safety protocols and overall facility administration in the company's Baudette, Minn., production facilities and Marietta, Ga., corporate offices. He is also an active member of the company's management and operating committees.
Behrens brings over two decades of production management experience to his new role. He first joined Solvay Pharmaceuticals, the parent organization of U.S.-based Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc., in its Hannover, Germany, headquarters. Since joining the company in 1980, Behrens has directed multiple aspects of the pharmaceutical manufacturing process, including formulation of solids, packaging, active substance production, quality assurance and control, environmental affairs and plant process/system modernization. Most recently, Behrens managed the organization's 400-person manufacturing operation in Hannover, where he led the build-out of a new, state-of-the-art production and laboratory facility.
Behrens holds a master's degree in chemistry and a doctorate in organic chemistry, both from the University of Kiel in Germany. He also received advanced training in general management and business administration at the University of Münster in Germany and INSEAD Fontainebleau in France. Behrens and his wife currently reside in Baudette, Minn.
