Ron Robison Named Senior Vice President, Research and Development and Chief Medical Officer for Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

 

  MARIETTA, Ga. (Oct. 30, 2002) - Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. introduces Dr. Ron Robison as its new senior vice president of research and development and chief medical officer. Robison will oversee all U.S.-based compound research and drug development in the company's therapeutic areas of cardiology, gastroenterology, mental health and women's health. He will also be an officer of the corporation and an active member of its management and operating committees.

Robison joins Solvay Pharmaceuticals from Amersham Health in the United Kingdom, where he most recently served as senior vice president of research and development and worldwide medical director. In that position, he directed the company's global medical activities related to new product development and support of marketed products. His management experience extends to oversight of clinical research, drug safety, medical and disease strategy and medical marketing. Prior to joining Amersham Health, Robison served as vice president of clinical research and medical affairs and chief medical officer of Nycomed Inc. (formerly Sanofi-Sterling Winthrop), and as associate director of clinical research for Mallinckrodt Medical, Inc.

Robison began his clinical research career as a research assistant at the Oregon Health Sciences University. He earned a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University, a master's in medical informatics from the University of Utah and graduated cum laude with a medical doctorate from The Oregon Health Sciences University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Robison is an active member of the Radiological Society of North America, the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the American Medical Informatics Association, the Society of Medical Decision Making and the Drug Information Association. He resides in Marietta, Ga., with his wife and four children.
