Marietta, Ga. (March 24, 2003) - Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announces that Anil Salpekar, Ph.D., has been named vice president of marketed products development and support. In his new role, Dr. Salpekar will oversee pharmaceutical and analytical development, package engineering and technology transfer aspects of the company's products. He also joins the corporation's operating committee.
Salpekar brings over two decades of research and development experience to Solvay Pharmaceuticals. He first joined the company as director of pharmaceutics support for marketed product development. Prior to joining Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Salpekar held research and development management positions at DSM Pharmaceuticals, Banner Pharmacaps, Bausch & Lomb, Mallinckrodt and Ortho Pharmaceutical Corporation.
After completing his undergraduate degree in pharmacy at Saugar University in India, Salpekar earned his master's in pharmaceutics from the University of Iowa, doctorate in pharmaceutics from the University of Maryland and master's in business administration from Washington University. He is a member of the Pharmaceutical Drug Delivery Panel of the National Science Foundation and was elected chair of the Pharmaceutical Technology Section of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists for the term beginning 2004. He currently resides in Woodstock, Ga., with his wife.
