Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Celebrates Grand Opening of Expanded Hormone Manufacturing Facility
Baudette, Minn. - Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. employees celebrated the completion of their hormone manufacturing facility expansion project on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Following the ceremony, employees and guests enjoyed refreshments and tours of the facility, a unique opportunity since the facility operates under strict safety and security lock-down measures while normal operations are underway.
The completion of this expansion project represents the culmination of seven years of planning to further enhance the facility's manufacturing capabilities. State-of-the-art additions to the facility include new equipment and expanded use of the existing County Road One facility's 40,000 square foot space. Manufacturing work conducted in the facility involves estrogens for use in women's hormone therapy products.
"This project is a function of our company's commitment to superior manufacturing processes," explained Site General Manager Mike Dornhecker. "Recent enhancements incorporated in this $4.5 million expansion project ensure that our hormone plant manufacturing capabilities meet and surpass industry standards."
Dignitaries from the company's U.S. headquarters and European parent organization, Solvay S.A., were on hand to mark the celebration. Visitors from the Marietta, Ga., headquarters included President and CEO Harold Shlevin, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations Jim Hynd, Vice President of Finance and Administration Guy Mercier, Vice President of Quality Assurance/Quality Control Joe Northington and Vice President of Human Resources Paul Harding. Joining the celebration from the worldwide Solvay Pharmaceuticals headquarters in Weesp, The Netherlands, were Senior Vice President of Global Manufacturing Francesc Junyent and Vice President of Pharmaceutical Production Paul Robben.
